JACK CARLTON JERLES, 77, of Elkhart, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at his residence. Born in Fort Wayne, Aug. 30, 1935 the son of Carl W. and Mary C. (Creek) Jerles. He was a Korean war Veteran and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of the Bristol, Ind. American Legion. Surviving are his daughters, Marilyn (Rodman) Bender of Elkhart, Linda (Michael) Snider of Elkhart, and Cynthia (Steven) Miller of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Bodie Bender, Brock Bender and Blane Bender, Tanner Jerles, Abigail Snider, Megan Miller and Kristin Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; and aunt, Thelma Creek. Military service is 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Roger Bayak of the Goshen Veterans Honor Guard, officiating. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at Rieth-Rohrer- Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen.
