JANE CECILIA FOLEY, 83, of Auburn, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at her home. Jane was born July 31, 1929, in Auburn, a daughter of Robert True and Margaret Elizabeth (Bierly) Schooley. She married John Leo Foley on Nov. 27, 1948, in Auburn, who passed away March 16, 2011 after 62 years of matrimony. A 1947 graduate of Auburn High School, she received an Associate in Applied Science in Mental Health Technology in 1978, and a Bachelors of Arts in 1980 from Purdue University. She earned her Master's Degree in Social Work from Indiana University in 1984. Prior to marriage, she worked at Romeiser Drugs and Messenger Corp. In addition to her role as wife and mother, she worked as a therapist for the Northeastern Center in Auburn, and as director and therapist of Family Shelter Inc. in Garrett, focusing on battered women. She also served as corporate secretary for the Foley Pattern Company Inc. in Auburn. She was a member and past President of the Tri Kappa Sorority, Ladies Literary Club, Association for Women in Psychology, Friends of the Eckhart Public Library, and was a former member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing piano and singing, and passed her musical talents onto most of her eight children and seventeen grandchildren. Surviving are her son, Steve (Carol) Foley of Waterloo; seven daughters, Kathleen (Drew) Hadwal of Wichita Falls, Texas, Mary (Dr. John) Hemperly of Apex, N.C., Ellen (Dick) Stahly of Auburn, Sheila (Kevin) Myers of Conyers, Ga., Dr. Sarah (Mike) Hannon of Muncie, Pat (Arnie) Schon of Willow Springs, N.C., and Carolyn (Rick Dye) Foley of Auburn; 17 grandchildren, Joseph Hadwal, Celia (Adam) O'Brien, Lauren (Chase) Cullipher, Josh Hemperly, Alison Hemperly, Troy (Kelly) Stahly, Hannah Foley, J.T. Foley, Brittany Myers, Shawn Myers, Bryn Hannon, Darby Hannon, Sam Schon, RemiSchon, Jessica Dye, Nick Dye, and Megan Dye; three great-grandchildren, Logan Stahly, Taya Stahly, and Violet Cullipher; two brothers, Dr. James (Mary Alice) Schooley, and Dr. David (Patricia) Schooley; and a sister, Mary (Barney) Beers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Schooley, and William Schooley; and three sisters, Elizabeth Schooley, Frances (William) Hughes, and Anne (Robert) Duff. Memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Feller & Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St., Auburn, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor David Foster will officiate. A private family service will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn. Memorials may be directed to Eckhart Public Library and Tri Kappa Sorority, Alpha Pi Chapter.
