JOHN G. "PETE" PETERSON, 89, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, 5 a.m., in Fort Wayne. Born July 14, 1923, in Marion, Ind., he was a son of the late Garl and Anna (Meyers) Peterson. He married Betty on July 28, 1950; she preceded him in death. He retired from the Marion Fire Department, Teamsters 135 after 22 years of service. Prior to that, he worked as a truck driver for Associated Truck Lines for 20 years. He was a member of Temple Congregational Church, a United States Army World War II veteran and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Surviving are his granddaughter, Shannon (Shane) Blinn of Fort Wayne; great-granddaugh ter, Baile Blinn of Fort Wayne; great-grandson, Logan Blinn of Fort Wayne; sister, Marilyn (Kenny) Nessersmith of Sweetser, Ind.; and brothers, Jim (Bobbie) Peterson and Bill (Peggy) Peterson , both of Marion, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Anna Peterson; sister, Margaret Cunningham; and brothers, Robert Peterson and Howard Peterson. Private graveside service is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Gardens of Memory, Marion, Ind., with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
