JOSEPH ALLEN SHOEMAKER Jr.

JOSEPH ALLEN SHOEMAKER JR., 53, of Fountain City, died on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Reid Hospital. Born March 6, 1959, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Joseph A. and Frances Earlene Haney Shoemaker He lived most of his life in Richmond. He was a 1977 graduate of Carroll High School, Fort Wayne and a 1981 graduate of Indiana University, having earned a bachelor's degree in marketing. He was an attendant at the Richmond State Hospital for 20 years and was a manager at Heck's Department Store and Nationwise Auto Parts. Joe enjoyed watching football, fishing, baseball, and sports card collecting. Survivors include his brother, Bill Shoemaker and his fiancée, Leslie Mick of LaGrange; grandmother, Doris Shoemaker of Martinez, Ga.; two nephews, Darren J. Shoemaker and William Ryan Shoemaker; niece, Casie Lauren Shoemaker and her daughters, MaKenzie and Morgan; cousins; and many friends including Rod (Debbie) York of Fountain City. He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandfather, William S. Shoemaker; and maternal grandparents, Earl and Frances Leane Haney. Visitation is from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
