LESLIE LYNN MARKITON, 61, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. Born April 8, 1951, in Danbury, Conn., she was a daughter of the late Bruce M. and Florence M. (Hibbert) Simons. "Leslie was full of life and made friends everywhere she went. She was always giving, and was a wonderful mother, wife, and sister." In her younger years, she broke the mold as one of the rare female over the road drivers of the time and continued to forge paths in new professions. Throughout her life, Leslie was involved in Real Estate and business brokerage, mortgage and title work, bank management, and insurance sales to name but a few. In her rare moments of free time, she loved golfing, traveling and being with friends. Leslie enjoyed going with her husband, Jim, Director of the Mizpah Shrine Chanters, a mens singing group, to hear the concert performances and socialize with their friends. "She always loved to have friends and family gathered, and never failed to make someone feel welcome. We will all miss her immensely." Surviving are her husband, James S. Markiton of Fort Wayne; daughter, Katie M. Bailey of Fort Wayne; son, David M. Deane of Fort Wayne and his daughter, Alicia; sister, Kristen (Michael) Murphy of Lancaster, Ohio and their children, Joshua, Jeffrey and Jonathan; niece and nephew, Kelly Martinez of Waterbury, Conn. and Bobby Simons of Fort Wayne the children of brother, Bruce W. Simons (who preceded her in death). Please join her family and friends in a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Klaehn Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne St., with calling two hours prior to service.
