MICHAEL ALAN NEWLAND, 59, passed away on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, with his loving family at his side. Born Sept. 27, 1953, he was a son of the late Elwood and Edith Newland and was raised in Kentland and Goodland, Ind. He was employed for many years by Chem Central of New Haven. He spent many summers waterskiing on Lake-of-the-Woods in Decatur, Mich., and was undoubtedly the best of the best. He was a superb golfer, a pool shark, a N.A.S.C.A.R. fan, and a lifelong Chicago Bears fan. He is survived by his daughter, Kristy; son, Michael; and three beloved grandchildren, Tyland, Mark, and Brooklyn; sisters, Sally Stombaugh of Tucson, Ariz. and Virginia Dolin of Springfield, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews and friends who will deeply miss his ever present humor. "To know Mike was to love him." He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack of Fort Wayne; and sister, Evelyn Hartlep of Minocqua, Wisc. Service is 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46819), with visitation one hour prior.
