NED J. TARNEY

NED J. TARNEY, 90, of Churubusco, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, 3:35 p.m., at Emeritus Senior Living, Fort Wayne. He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne, and graduated from Central High School in 1940. After serving his country in World War II, he worked for General Electric for approximately 42 years, retiring in 1982. After retiring, he took up woodworking which became a hobby. He was a member of Community of Christ Church where he had served as a Pastor and recently as a High Priest. The surviving relatives include daughter, Dixie Stouder of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his spouse of 70 years, Lauramae Tarney on June 30, 2012; parents, Claude E. and Minnie (Smith) Tarney; a son, Nedric J. Tarney; two brothers, Cecil and Marshall Tarney; two sisters, Fern Benner and Hilda McDaniels; a son-in-law, Darwin Stouder; a grandson; and a great-great- grandson. Funeral service is 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Community of Christ Church, 3223 Hobson Road, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor Alycia Smith officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Riverview Cemetery, Newville, Dekalb County. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to Community of Christ Church.
