PAUL W. HOERNER, 94, died on Friday, March 7, 2014, at home. Born Jan. 23, 1920, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Otto Walter and Hilda (Tonges) Hoerner. He was a Central High School 1937 graduate and a World War II United States Army veteran. He married Almeda Iona Blake on Oct. 25, 1952. Paul was the plant superintendent for Sheller-Globe, in Grabill, and captain of the Kendallville Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Almeda Hoerner of Kendallville; daughter, Drenda (Jim) Kurtz of Fort Wayne; son, William Cox of Seguin, Texas; five grandchildren, Tim Cox of Jacksonville, Fla., Kris (Starr) Cox of Cromwell, Paula (Robert) Kennedy, Todd Kurtz and Josh Cox, all of Fort Wayne; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville, both with military honors. Memorials to Kendallville Fire Department or Heartland Hospice.
