RAYMOND S. HERBERT, 92, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born in Defiance County, Ohio, Raymond was a World War II Army veteran. He was a mechanic with NIPSCO for 31 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, American Legion Post 47, and V.F.W. Post 857. Raymond enjoyed fishing, going to lunch at Hall's Restaurant, and watching sports. "He loved his family and cherished his grandchildren." Surviving are his son, William (Kathleen) Herbert of Remington; daughter, Sharon (Darwin) Diemer of Fort Wayne; sisters, Margaret Hipskind and Marie Herbert, both of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, William and Rosemary Herbert; wife, Lola Lucille Herbert; and sisters, Dorothy and Marcella Herbert. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior. Fr. James Kumbakkeel officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with a vigil service at 8:30 p.m. Entombment in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
