RICHARD C. DELANEY, 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital. Born in Boston, Mass., Richard was a World War II Air Force veteran. He worked as a PBX Engineer with G.T.E. for 25 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of American Legion, V.F.W., and the Disabled American Veterans. Richard had a passion for gardening and dancing, particularly "Jitterbugging." Surviving are his son, Stuart Delaney of California; daughter, Denise (Robert) Rainwaters of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Michele, Tara, Shannon, Nicole, Steve, Scott, Sean, Connor, Christopher, and Kyle; nine great-grandchildren; and his black Lab companion, Jake. He was preceded in death by father, Cosmos Delaney; mother, Phoebe Norton; wife, Hazel Delaney; sons, John and "Dicky" Delaney; daughters, Richine Salustri and Diane Popp; sisters, Irene West and Pauline McKenna; and his English Setter companion, Sam. Calling is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road. Cemetery service is 11 a.m. Thursday at Covington Memorial Gardens, 8408 Covington Road, with Mike Harris officiating.
