RICHARD L. TWIGG, 80, of Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Ossian, departed this life on Friday, March 15, 2013, at his home. He was born on Aug. 30, 1932, in Fort Wayne. He spent his childhood in Indiana and graduated from Elmhurst High School prior to enlisting in the Air Force in 1951. He honorably served his county for the next 20 years; including deployments in Korea, the Philippine Islands and Vietnam. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service. He retired from the Air Force while living in Upper Michigan and taught grade school in Marquette until 1990. He eventually moved back to Ossian, Ind. with his wife, Doris. They enjoyed summers in Indiana and winters in Florida. He was a member of numerous Lutheran congregations over the years, serving the Lord faithfully throughout his life. He enjoyed many things but playing golf was his passion. When he wasn't golfing he could be found carving wood, skeet shooting or reading a novel. He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Susan (Tom) Wisnieski; grandsons, Zack, Kyle, Ben and Nick, all of Mansfield, Massachusetts, sons, Tom (Trish) Twigg of Corvallis, Ore., Theodore (Kathleen) Twigg of Aberdeen, Wash. and Todd Twigg of Bellevue, Wash.; sister, Mary Lou (Bill) Arnold of Kentucky; and many other friends and relatives in the Fort Wayne area.
