He continued his service and achieved rank of Major in the Air Force Reserves. Upon returning from the service, Robert and his father started a portrait photography business that became Robert's Studio, of which he was the proprietor and chief photographer for 40 years. He was married to Mary Ashley Houser in June of 1950, and remained happily so until her passing in July of 1995. He was also blessed later in life with a second marriage to Mrs. Hope Jordan of Angola, who passed away in 2010. He considered himself very fortunate in both unions.
