SHIRLEY ANN (JOHN) BENEKE


SHIRLEY ANN (JOHN) BENEKE, 77, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Shirley graduated from Concordia High School. She worked as a Dietary Manager with Lutheran Homes for 27 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and active in the Ladies Aid Society, and enjoyed making ceramic gifts for her family. "Shirley was a great wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker and will be greatly missed." Surviving are her husband, Edward Beneke of Fort Wayne; sons, David (Mary Anne) Beneke of Fort Wayne and Mike Beneke of Fort Wayne; daughter, Julieanne (Michael) Hook of Hicksville, Ohio; sister, Sandy (Robert) Bowman of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Bryan (Ashleigh) Beneke, Mark Beneke, Jimmie Beneke, Amiee (Josh) Stir, Brandon (Mary) Beneke, and Jessica Beneke, all of Fort Wayne, Megan Miller, Nicole (Justin) Evans, Shane, Jenna, Brett, and Morgan Hook, all of Hicksville, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Helen John. Service is 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Steven Ahlersmeyer officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road.
