VITUS E. KOCH, 91, of Auburn, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at DeKalb Health surrounded by his family. He was born June 6, 1921, in Payne, Ohio, a son of the late William and Mary Koch. He married Ruth M. Minick on May 21, 1949, and she survives in Auburn. He was a lifelong family farmer and was also a custodian at Leo High School for 19 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Auburn, and a member of the Knights of Columbus since he was 19 years old. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, tractors, tinkering with machinery in his shop and eating homemade pies and ice cream. He is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Ruth M. Koch of Auburn; sons, Stephen (Debbie) Koch of Spencerville, Anthony (Kathy Patton) Koch of Auburn, and William (Alicia) Koch of Auburn; a daughter, Maureen Koch of Auburn; stepson, Johnny (Mitzie) Miller of Merryville; a brother, Benjamin (Josephine) Koch of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one stepgrandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Koch; five brothers, Dan, John, Carl, Justus and Rudolph Koch; three sisters, Catherine Koch, Hedy Moeller and Margaret Moeller; a granddaughter, Renee Koch; and a stepgrandson, Johnny Patton. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 500 E. Seventh St., Auburn, with visitation one hour prior to Mass. Rev. Derrick Sneyd officiating. Visitation is also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at Pinnington-McComb Funeral & Cremation Services, 502 N. Main St., Auburn. Recital of the rosary will take place 4:15 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Auburn. Memorials are to Masses or to the National Parkinson Foundation.
