WILLIAM NATHAN HARRISON, 92, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Renaissance Village, Fort Wayne. Born March 31, 1921 in Aboite Township, Allen County, he was the son of William Roy and Ethel N. (Smith) Harrison. He grew up in Aboite Township, Allen County, and Jefferson Township, Whitley County. After graduating from Jefferson Center High School with the Class of 1940, he served in the United States Army. On April 25, 1942, he married Betty Louise Trimmer in Jefferson Township. He was employed with General Electric, Fort Wayne, for 44 1/2 years retiring on Feb. 27, 1986. He was a lifetime member of Jefferson Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Betty Louise Harrison of Fort Wayne; son, William "Ed" Edward Harrison of Goshen; two daughters, Susan Shaffmaster of Fort Wayne and Jane Graham of Spokane, Wash.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James D. Harrison; and sisters, Virginia Faye DeMoney and LaVera Harshbarger; granddaughter, Kelly Katherine Graham; and son-in-law, Richard Shaffmaster. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at Jefferson Chapel United Methodist Church with calling one hour prior. Rev. Leonard King officiating. Visitation also from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Burial will follow at Jefferson Chapel (Sand Bank) Cemetery with graveside military rites presented by the Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard.
