Maydene Zumbrun

MAYDENE ZUMBRUN, 97, of Albion, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Betz Nursing Home, Auburn where she had resided for the past three years. Born March 3, 1910, in Elkhart County, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Edith (Eldridge) Lohrei. She was a homemaker and married Obra V. Zumbrun on Nov. 2, 1929 at the Blue River Church of the Brethren, in Columbia City; he passed away on April 24, 1997. She and her husband lived on the family farm from 1945 until they moved to Laverna Terrace in Avilla where she lived for the next eight years. She was a member of Rehoboth Missionary Church, in rural Albion. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Jan Zumbrun of rural Albion; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Alan Critchfield of Fort Wayne and Kay and Charles Stanley of Whiteland, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Bert Lohrei and Roy Lohrei Jr.; a sister, Nina Fisel; and a grandchild. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday at Brazzell Funeral Home, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Gerald Ringenberg of Rehoboth Missionary Church officiating. Calling also from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Rehoboth Cemetery, in rural Albion. Mrs. Zumbrun's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials to Rehoboth Missionary Church.
