BARBARA JEAN HOUGHTON

BARBARA JEAN HOUGHTON, 79, died on Monday, April 16, 2012, at Community North Hospital, Indianapolis. Born Oct. 15, 1932, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late John and Grace (Smith) Larimore. She married David Paul Houghton on Sept. 28, 1957, in Fort Wayne; he survives in Indianapolis. She worked as a secretary for Tokheim Corporation and was a member of Church of God in Fort Wayne. She, along with her husband, owned the Little Hitching Post for 19 years and Mr. J. J., the Indianapolis Colts mascot. Also surviving are son, David (Cherie) Houghton II of Leo; daughters, Janice Houghton of Indianapolis and Cindy (Gary) Cooper of Cohutta, Ga.; one grandson, Trace Houghton; sisters, Helen Dowling of Middleton, Mass. and Joan Kinsey of Canton, Ohio; and brother, Charles Larimore of Starkweather, N.D. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Paul Houghton Jr.; a brother, John Larimore; and a sister, Betty Koehler. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at Carnahan-Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home, Spencerville. Pastor Michael Lederman officiating. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
