Anything I were to say about Charles would be redundant. There are many in this town who knew him much better than I. I will say that his passing has left a large whole in the social conscience of this city. He will be missed - alot

Jackie and the Redd Family my heart is very sad to hear the news of my friend Charles Redd. I meant Mr. Redd in 1969 when a group of us decided to walk out of Central high school because we wanted to be taught Black History. Mr. Redd supported us and gave us a place to meet. Charles Redd was always there for the people of Fort Wayne and loved his family and friends he will be very missed.

To the Redd and Adams Family: You have my deepest sympathy during your time of loss. Mr. Redd was a wonderful man who impacted the lives of those within our community. Jackie, I wish that I could be there at Turner on Saturday to celebrate his homegoing!!! But not just that, but to be there for you and the rest of the family. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. May God give you the strength you need to go through this season of loss in your life. I love you!!!

My prayers are with Jackie and the Redd Family. lI thank God that I was introduced to Charle Brooks Redd. I credit him for who I have become today in this community. I learned, under his leadership, how to mobilize a community to fight for what you needed to and compromise if you had to. Charles, was a people's person. He always said "you can do ". I worked for Charles at the Urban League, in the Freedom Schools, Voter Registration , Directed the FWUL'S Where It's At Youth Center . He urged me to apply and work for MHRC, as an Investigator & Director, to run and win a County Council seat for the first district and to be a great community advocate. Fort Wayne is a better city because of Mr. Charles Brooks Redd..Thank You!

To the Family of Charles Redd: Although I did not personally know Mr. Redd, I suspect that my parents, Delmar and Edna Blanks knew him very well. My cousin, Jimmy Blanks forwarded the obit as written in the paper of his passing via Facebook. I was moved as I read that he wondered if what he had achieved during his life made a difference to anyone. Well, I believe he made a difference in my life. I know that my parents, especially my Mom because she was part of the staff of the Urban League, and my godparents, Helen and Tom Brown were instrumental in ensuring that several of my classmates and I were given the opportunity to succeed by integrating us into elementary schools around the city of Fort Wayne versus having children between the ages of 10 and 12 sent to Central High School as a result of overcrowding at the then McCulloch Elementary and other schools during the late 1960's. I believe the efforts of this generation of activists in Fort Wayne allowed me to succeed in life and attain the goals that I wanted to achieve in my career as an engineer and inventor. I just want to say to you that we all achieve things in life that impacts someone in some form or another. I am certain that he made an impact on many others as well. My thoughts and prayers to you during your time of loss.
