GEORGE DANIEL "DAN" TEMPLETON III, 58, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, in Fort Wayne. Born March 23, 1954, in Warren, Pa., he led a very full life as a husband, father, and business owner before passing away. His strong work ethic started at an early age as a paper carrier and dedicated Boy Scout. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout and later served as an adult Scout leader. He graduated from Warren Area High School in 1972 and continued on to Alleghany College where he received his Bachelor of Science in chemistry. He continued to collect degrees, earning a PhD from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from the University of Tulsa. After moving to Fort Wayne, he was very active in the soccer community as a volunteer, coach, and referee. He was also an involved member of the Covenant United Methodist Church. He enjoyed a long career with Therma Tru Corp, leaving the company in 2004 as the Vice President of Technology to start his own company, AmerIPatent LLC. At the time of his passing, he was a patent agent at Brooks Kushman of Detroit, Owner and CEO of Aptimise and Plastic Composite Company of Fort Wayne, and Region 9 Director of the American Society of Quality. He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Cheryl (Walling); daughters, Sarah (Kevin) Templeton-Wilson of Cincinnati and Allison Templeton of Fort Wayne; son, Glen Templeton of Fort Wayne; future son-in-law, Aaron Washington; one granddaughter, Amelie Wilson of Cincinnati (who just learned to say 'grandpa'); his mother, Janet Templeton of Warren, Pa., brothers, Monty Templeton of Warren, Pa., Andy Templeton of Tulsa, Okla.; and sister, Tracey Kranak of Warren, Pa. He was preceded in death by his father, George Daniel Templeton Jr. Memorial service is 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Covenant United Methodist Church, 10001 Coldwater Road, Fort Wayne. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne. One of Dan's infamous "brainstorming" sessions at the white board. He was a genius at this technique.

Dan was my "go to guy" at the Fort Wayne Inventor's club. He personally helped many of our members obtain, market, and manufacture their patents. He was a giving, caring soul and I will miss him dearly.

Dan was the most compassionate and thought provoking person I ever had the pleasure of working for. The world suffers to move forward without visionaries like Dan. He will surely be missed and never forgotten.

Dan was my mentor, friend, colleague and business associate for 25 years. He always had the ability to think outside of the box and come up with original, unique, creative solutions. His compassion for others was always evident in his relationship with others. Dan's optimism and "we can do anything" attitude lifted us to levels of accomplishment well beyond what most of thought was possible. Dan's influence and leadership will be deeply missed. God bless you, Dan, save me a seat in Heaven, I'll see you then.
