ALFRED H. HARDIEK, 87, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born Aug. 5, 1926, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Eber hardt) Hardiek. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. He married Julie McBride, who preceded him in death on July 10, 2010. He was self employed, owning and operating Hardiek Decorating. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 82. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, and was a lifelong Cubs fan. He is survived by sons, Steve Hardiek and Richard (Pat) Hardiek, both of Fort Wayne, Mark (Angie) Hardiek of Avilla, and Tim Hardiek of LaOtto; daughters, Charolette (Rama) Tavassol and Cynthia (Terry) Archer, both of LaOtto; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Lisa Hardiek; and his brothers and sisters. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at Brazzell Funeral Home, Avilla Chapel, 530 N. Main St Avilla, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at Lindenwood Cemetery.
