ALFRED JAMES KENNEDY, 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 at Lamplight Inn Assisted Living of Fort Wayne. He was born July 23, 1930 in Wapp-ingers Falls, N.Y. He married Renee Goldstein and cared for her lovingly for 26 years before her death. Al was a resident of Wappingers Falls, N.Y. until moving to Fort Wayne in 2000. He worked as a heavy machine operator, building roads for the State of New York. He so proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, serving from 1951 to 1953, and would say no more about it than he lost his best buddies on either side of him. He was of the Catholic faith and for years volunteered at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, until Alzheimer's stole his words and sense of direction. When most all his memory was gone, he could still sing the Marine Corps Battle Hymn. He is survived by five stepchildren, Dr. Glenn L. Goldstein of Fort Wayne, Barry Goldstein of Nashville, Tenn., Fred Goldstein of Pine Bush, N.Y., Joy Goldstein Glas. of Coram, N.Y., and Dale Goldstein of Manhattan, N.Y. There is no visitation or services planned. "We would all like to thank the so loving staff of Lamplight Inn who took such great care of him during his failing years."
