BEATRICE GREEN, 90, died peacefully in Florida Saturday, May 4, 2013 after a long illness. She was born on July 20, 1922 in Brookline, Mass. the daughter of Samuel and Jeanne Burke. She attended Girls Latin School and Simmons College. She married Leonard B. Elsky in 1946 and resided in Worcester, Mass. where Dr. Elsky started a dental practice. Following his untimely death in 1957, she obtained a teaching degree from Worcester State College and worked for two years as an elementary school teacher. In 1960 she married Dr. Robert F. Green and moved to Defiance, Ohio and two years later to Fort Wayne. She later obtained a Master's Degree in psychology and worked for many years as a therapist. In 2010, she moved to Florida to be cared for by her daughter, Janet. Bea enjoyed playing the piano and was an avid reader, thinker, fitness enthusiast, and ping pong player. She belonged to several book clubs and volunteered at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. "She lived an open-minded and positive life that was filled with curiosity, friendships, and, despite life's ups and downs, much laughter." She is survived by her sons, Dr. Ivan Green of Worcester, Mass., Rob Green of Seattle, Wash., and Dan Green of Fort Wayne; daughters, Janet Kiechle of Cooper City, Fla. and Dr. Elaine Hathaway of Monroe Township, N.J.; as well as 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Paul E. Burke in 2007. A graveside service is 10 a.m. Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the B'nai B'rith Cemetery in Worcester, Mass.
