REV. CALVIN HOWELL SR., 88, of Fort Wayne, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born on Aug. 13, 1924, in Holly Springs, Miss. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in World War II. He worked at Konkel Foundry and was Pastor of Providence Missionary Baptist Church for 41 years from 1965 to 2006. Surviving are his daughters, Maxine Files, Ernestine (Clark) Hamilton and Nancy Smiley, all of Fort Wayne; daugther-in-law, Jean Howell of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Magnolia Howell in 2009; son, Calvin Jr.; and his parents, George and Pearl Howell; and 12 siblings. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Carmichael Funeral Service.
