DeVON PHILLIPS, 92, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Bethlehem Woods Rehab Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Whitley County, Ind., DeVon was a partner of Grabill Cabinet for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a very active member of Grabill Missionary Church. "He was faithful to God and the church and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather." Surviving are his son, Richard (Joan) Phillips of Fort Wayne; daughter, Charlene (Conrad) Getz of Grabill, Ind.; grandchilchildren, Jeff (Carrie) Getz of Atlanta, Ga., Jon (Stacey) Getz of Tallahassee, Fla., David (Sara) Phillips of Irvine, Calif., and Katherine Phillips of Fort Wayne; great-grandchildren, Kaylin and Kendall Getz; and sister, Norma Krauskopf of Decorah, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Culley and Katherine Phillips; and wife, Velma L Phillips. Memorial service is 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Grabill Missionary Church, 13637 State St., with calling from 1 to 3 p.m. The Rev. William Lepley officiating. Burial in Leo Memorial Cemetery, Leo, Ind. Memorials may be made to Grabill Missionary Church or Sunshine Network c/o First Missionary Church. To the family of Mr. Phillips, During the brief time DeVon was at University Park Health and Rehabilitation, we got to know him. He was a nice and very kind man. He will surely be missed by everyone who knew him. Our sympathies to the family.
