DONNA ROSE DORNICK SCHOENLE, passed away the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012. Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of Alfred and Emma Dornick. "Although she never wanted anyone to make a fuss over her, family and friends gathered recently to honor her at a grand celebration of her 90th birthday, an event which will be fondly remembered as a very special party." She married Paul Walter Schoenle on June 14, 1941; she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years. She continued to reside in the home she and Paul bought shortly after they were married and where they raised their family. Her life was dedicated to being a devoted wife, a loving mother, a caring grandmother and gentle great-grandmother. She was loved and respected by the many close friends of her children and grandchildren, who were all welcomed into her extended family. She was a faithful member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. In addition to delighting her grandchildren by preparing her delicious chicken and noodles for all holiday celebrations and family gatherings, Donna enjoyed attending mass, caring for her home and yard, reading novels, and staying current with national and world events. She made a point of planning her Sunday schedule so that she could watch 60 Minutes each week. She is survived by her eight children and their spouses, Judy and Bob Wagoner, Diane and Jerry Burch, Emily and Gary Grable, Paul David and Kathy Schoenle, Jon and Nancy Schoenle, Elizabeth Schoenle, Tim and Annette Schoenle, and Chris Schoenle. Also surviving are her 22 grandchildren and their spouses; 26 great-grandchildren; and beloved dog, Boots. Donna was especially close to her nieces, Suzy (Dick) Ebnit and Sue Ramp; and sister-in-law, Mary Dornick. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter; sister, Marian Fawcett; and brothers, Richard "Dick" Dornick, James "Jim" Dornick and Charles Alfred "Bud" Dornick. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 518 E. Dewald St., with calling one hour prior. Fr. Phillip Widmann officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
