DWIGHT F. GIROD, 90, of Fort Wayne, died on Friday, May 10, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital. Born April 3, 1923, in Adams County, Ind., he was a son of the late Milton and Emma (Firks) Girod. On June 21, 1953, he married Jane Maddox. Dwight was a member of Grace St. Johns United Church of Christ; a member of the General Electric Quarter Century Club and Elfun Society. He retired from General Electric in Fort Wayne as a Cost Accounting Manager. A 1941 graduate of Kirkland High School, Dwight was the Valedictorian of his class and was also a 1948 Indiana University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree. Dwight honorably served his country during World War II in the Army Corps Engineering 1567th Division. Survivors include his wife, Jane M. Girod of Fort Wayne; a son, Randall K. Girod J.D. of Syracuse; two daughters, Susan J. Girod M.D. (Jerold J. Harter M.D.) of Stevens Point, Wis. and Lisa A. Girod of Indianapolis; a granddaughter, Claire Girod of Stevens Point, Wis.; and a sister, Irene Longenberger of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Glen Girod and Arthur Girod M.D.; and a sister, Mary Kelley. Graveside service is 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Decatur Cemetery.
