E. DeWAYNE SNELL, 92, of North Manchester, died on Saturday, April 13, 2013, 7:55 p.m., at Timber crest Health care Center, North Manchester. Born July 3, 1920, North Manchester, he was a son of the late Melvin R. Snell and Trevah P. (Farley). He graduated from Laketon High School and attended Indiana Business College. He married Doris B. Bowers on July 14, 1945; she survives. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren. He served in General Patton's 3rd Army 95th Infantry Division "The Iron Men Of Metz". He was awarded The Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and the Presidential Unit Citation from President Roosevelt. He was a member of the American Legion Post 286 at North Manchester, and former member of the North Manchester Lions Club, North Manchester Jaycees and Elks Lodge at Wabash. He was employed 23 years with Heckman Bindery, North Manchester, and later retired in 1983 after 23 years as district circulation manager for Fort Wayne Newspapers. Also surviving are his daughter, Marsha (Michael) Flora of Fort Wayne; son-in-law, Robert Gonzalez of Naperville, Ill.; brother, Robert L. (Sheila) Snell of Indianapolis; sister, Joann (Russell) Hoover of North Manchester; four granddaughters, Dr. Darcy Flora of Denver, Colo., Megan (James) Chappo of Dallas, Texas, Christine Gonzalez and Rachel Gonzalez, both of Naperville, Ill. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Tamara Gonzalez; sisters, Lucille Walters and Louise Sroufe. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Manchester Church of the Brethren, 1306 N. Beckley St., North Manchester, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Kurt Borgmann and Pastor Karen Eberly officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
