EGBERT "ED" McCARROL, 85, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Coving ton Manor. Born April 6, 1927, in Harlem, N.Y.C., he toured with the New York Broadway Clowns, a historic Negro basketball league. He retired as Assistant Supervisor of Transportation and Routing from Fort Wayne Community Schools after 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, Airborne, and member of American Legion Post 148. Basketball and jazz were his passions. He is survived by his children, Christine, Kevin, Eric, Tony (Terra), Sybil (Chris Couvillion), and Melissa; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edna (McNelly) McCarrol; and daughters, Michelle McCarrol and Audrey Prindle. Funeral service is 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, with visitation from noon to 3 p.m., at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W.
