ERNEST R. LIECHTY, 78, Berne, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Swiss Village. Born Dec. 14, 1934, in Adams County, he was a son of Amos and Della (Nuss baum) Liechty. He married Berdella M. Alt on April 5, 1958. He was a member of First Mennonite Church and was active in a diversified livestock and grain farm. He was supportive of his church, county 4-H organization, FFA and the MCC Meat Canner. "Ernie loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them." He is survived by his sons, Ted (Kathy) Liechty and Kent (Teri) Liechty, both of Berne; daughters, Jane (Denver) Nussbaum of Monroe and Sondra (Jeff) Lehman of Monroe; 11 grandchldren; two great-grandchldren; and sisters, Grace Herman of Keystone, Irena Sprunger and Leona Neuenschwander, both of Berne. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; granddaughter, Kimberly Nussbaum; brothers, Grover, Irvin and Amos Jr. Liechty; and sisters, Vera Gerber, Marcella Scholl, Esther Neuenschwander, Justine Liechty, and Ernestine Liechty. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at First Mennonite Church, with visitation one hour prior to service. Visitation also from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Swiss Village Chapel. Pastor Jerry A. Flueckiger officiating. Burial in MRE Cemetery, Berne.
