FREDRICK DEE "FREDDIE" GEARHART, 80, a lifelong of Markle, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at his home. Born Oct. 18, 1932, in Markle, he was a son of Ray and Helen (Folk) Gearhart. Fred graduated from East Union High School in 1951. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, and was honorably discharged from the U.S.A.F. Reserve in July of 1960. He developed many friendships during his 37 years as a dedicated employee of Fox Contractors & Prime Construction Company. He married Kathryn (Henry) Gearhart in 1957. Surviving are four children, Debra Gearhart of Sacramento, Calif., Jeffrey Gearhart of Markle, Kentin Gearhart of Indianapolis, and Jay (wife, Lisa) Gearhart of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Ned (wife, Kathy) Solloway of Wabash and Rex (wife, Janice) Solloway of Huntington; former wife, Kate Gearhart of Markle; and four grandchildren. USAF Captain Joel Gearhart of Melbourne, Fla, Natalie (husband, Preston) Torbet of San Clemente, Calif., Jordan and Lindsay Gearhart, both of Fort Wayne. Per Fred's wishes, he will be cremated, and there will be no visitation or funeral service.
