JAMES F. SCHEFFER, 83, passed away on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born July 5, 1929, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Ferdinand and Louise (Schoe nle) Scheffer. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1947 and Indiana University School of Business in 1952. Jim served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War, primarily at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. On Feb. 16, 1957, he married Nancy McMillan; she survives. He retired from IBM after 37 years of service as an account representative. He was a faithful member of St. Jude Catholic Church, American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus Council 451. "He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who relished his summers with his family at his cottage on Crooked Lake." Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Nancy Scheffer of Fort Wayne; daughter, Elizabeth (William) Krauskopf of Fort Wayne; son, Michael Scheffer of Carmel, Ind.; daughter, Jane (Christopher) Miller of Fort Wayne; sisters, Joan Willig of Lake James, Ind. and Eileen Uecker of Delaware; brothers, Thomas Scheffer of Columbus, Ohio and Paul (Marci) Scheffer of Billings, Mont.; and nine grandchildren, Kerry, Ryan, Matthew, Joseph, Sarah, Luke, Emily, Caroline and John. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Louise Scheffer; and sisters, Carol Perry-Miller, Barbara Woenker and Mary Ann Fletter. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Drive, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Thomas Shoemaker officiating. Calling also from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Entombment in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
