JOHN ALBERT HERNANDEZ, 60, of Gurnee, Ill., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, after a valiant six year battle with kidney cancer. He was born on Feb. 2, 1952, in Van Wert, Ohio. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Barb Hernandez; mother, Mary Hernendez; brother, Steven Hernandez; sisters, Carmen (Rudy) Lewis, Vicky Hernandez, Delia (Stan) Falk, and Mona Hernandez; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Anselmo Hernandez. He was Founder and Director of Gang Outreach, and worked for 33 years at United Airlines. He was an avid runner, athlete, and a Chicago Bears, Notre Dame Football and Ohio State Football fan. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, Ill. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial in Warren Cemetery & Mausoleum, Gurnee.
