JOHN CARSTEN, 69, of Fort Wayne, passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He retired from Raytheon Co. in Fort Wayne. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 82. John was a proud steward of the Acres Land Trust. He was born Sept. 29, 1944 in Fort Wayne, the son of Wayne and Doris (Robinson) Carsten. He was married in 1991 to Mary Jane Kissner who survives; also surviving are his son, Jeff (Amy) Carsten of Fort Wayne; daughters, Shari (Carl) Fiocca of Manhattan, Ill., Angie (Bruce) LaFontaine of Fort Wayne, Jill Hinsey of Wolcottville, and Amy (Chris) Steward of Huntertown; sister, Janet (Ron) Penrod of Muncie; and 15 grandchildren. Funeral Service is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home on Dupont Rd., Fort Wayne. Pastor Brandon Risch officiating. Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the D.O. McCombs & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Acres Land Trust or Parkview Hospice. Arrangements are being handled by the Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home in Portland, Ind.
