I was saddened to hear of Mrs. Micheaux's passing. She was an angel and we were blessed to have her for so long. She helped my family and many others. I am sure she continues to do good deeds where is now. My prayers and condolences go out to her family. C. Chandler (A Ft. Wayne Native now living in CA).

Mrs. Micheaux was like an aunt to my aunt Julia (Hurst)Gaines [and to the entire Hurst family]originally from Fort Wayne who moved to Pittsburg, PA and had to take on the responsibilities of a funeral director when her husband died in 1956. Julia and I went to see her when she came to Fort Wayne and it was very touching to see Mrs. Micheaux laughing and conversing w/my aunt as I was able to see another side of her instead of at a funeral for which she buried all my family. One of the beatitudes says to bury the dead and believe me she did just that which I believe is the most honorable profession one can do because not everyone can do it but she did it with such grace, charm and loving words.
She will be missed as she had to make that almighty "appointment" with the Lord and I belive God blessed her to live a long life as she did because she did so much good for those in need as she was a "true servant" of the Lord.
Junior, Judy and Kevin may you know that my prayers are with you in your time of bereavement.

to the family of the late mrs. josie l micheaux. mrs.micheaux and my grangmother was very good friends.my grandmother{big gloria}as they used to call her used to tell me how sweet of a person she was,and how much she had helped her.mrs.micheaux will be greatly missed.

May God comfort your family. Soror Micheaux(Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.) will be greatly missed by the community and all those she served. She was a comfort to me during the loss of my father(Eugene-1966) and mother(Gail-1982). Know that she is now at peace. You are in my prayers.

The Fort Wayne community has lost a great community leader and servant.She has helped many with love, care and concern. She will never be forgotten by all that knew her. My condolences to her family. Another one took her wings and flew from us,may she rest with our Lord.

Mrs. Micheaux will truly be missed by the citizens of Fort Wayne. She made a way out of no way for many families, to lay their loved ones to rest. I will always remember her patience and kindness during the times I lost my loved ones. She was blessed to be a blessing and will never be forgotten. God bless the family with peace beyond understanding.

This was such a wonderful woman a remarkable women in deed. When my daughter died over 19 years ago she did not charge us a dime for the services. Everything was paid for by her, and I truly appreciate all that she has done over the many years in the community. May the peace of God rest in your hearts for your beautiful mother, grandmother, aunt, or just a dear sweet friend. Peace be with all of the family in your time of sorry.

Expressing my deepest sympathies to Junior, Judy and all of the Bryant and Micheaux family. Mrs. Micheaux was my neighbor while growing up on Eliza St. and a close family friend. She was my Sunday School teacher at Turner Chapel A.M.E. church and in recent years I have been her class leader. After being in my entire life, I will miss her very much, but I know you will miss her the most. God Bless all of you.

Wayne native, now living in Philadelphia, PA, but remember Mr. & Mrs. Michaeux, from my childhood,having lived only a few doors from the funeral home. My Mother and Father Miriam and Robert "Tee" Blanks held Mrs. Michaeux in the highest regard, as did I. May she rest in peace.

And God Shall wipe away all your tears, especially Judy and then all the entire family, what shall I say that hasn't aready been said. Mrs. Josie my friend, I remember her since a little girl all of the Carswell, Trice families she put away so nicely, even the Golden oppunties she allowed me in doing some of my family and friends hair giving them the last touch, she wants said I was such a brave person if only she knew I was only doing what God had called me to do just be a servant. I thank God for the countless times I cooked and took her food even before becoming ill after and during some of her stay at the nursing home, I often told her how beautiful she was and she would always return the compliment. Judy I know you will miss her because their's nothing like a mothers love, but the Love of God. You just rest in Him for He's the only one can see you threw this time let no one tell you she's Lost for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord and she's not lost just asleep rest on my friend we shall meet again.

Mrs Micheaux was such a inspiration and model for the Ft Wayne area. She will always be remembered. She set the trail for all the other minority owned funeral homes as well as businesses in Ft Wayne, her legacy and lifelong accomplishments should be "honored' as well as always remembered amongst the black community. Ft Wayne has loss one of its pioneers and its up to the rest of us (new generation) to make those who have paved the way for us proud. May God bless the Micheaux family, you are in my prayers.

To Judy, Junior, GorDon & the rest of the family of Mrs. Micheaux... we are very saddened to hear of her passing, but, she has been a great SERVICE-PERSON to a great many of people... May GOD CONTINUE to Bless you all because of the BLESSING Mrs. Micheaux HAS BEEN FORT WAYNE, INDIANA... Mrs. Micheaux, Thank you for services you provided for my parents some several years ago. But most of all thank you for being my mentor when I was trying to go to Mortuary School. You were a great listener and always gave sound advice. The Ft. Wayne Community and Funeral Service Industry has lost both a pioneer and a credit.Mrs. Micheaux, I did get my Texas Funeral Director and Embalmer Liscenses. Thanks again. I now wish to request that you rest in peace. May the good Lord shine his love, peace and comfort on your family.

May God be with you in times like these and always. To family and friends: 1st Thessalonians Chapter 4 verses 13 through 18 says:
And now, dear brothers, I want you to know what happens to a Christian when he/she dies so that when it happens, you will not be full of sorrow, as those are who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and then came back to life again, we can also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him all the Christians who have died.
I can tell you this directly from the Lord: that we who are still living when the Lord returns will not rise to meet him ahead of those who are in their graves. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a mighty shout and with the soul-stirring cry of the archangel and the great trumpet-call of God. and the believers who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. So comfort and encourage each other with this news. (smile)

To her family, we would like to send our love and prayers to each of you and to let you know that we also share your sorrow.
Our community has indeed suffered a great lost with the passing of Ms. Josie. She was a wonderful, caring person who has helped many, many, many families in their time of need. She will be missed, and none can replace her.
She buried our great-grandparents, all of our grandparents, parents, brother, uncles and aunts, cousins and many friends.
We loved her. She always called me, "Little Katie", even though she knew my name. I shall miss her big white or black hats that she wore to many services and her inquiring mind.
May God rest her soul.
