LESTER M. SILVERS, 92, of Lake Park, Fla., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at his residence. He was a World War II veteran earning the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Signal Core. In 1941, he started his career in electronics with Carpart Farmsworth. Then they were merged with ITT Aerospace in Fort Wayne where he remained employed for the next 41 years. He was born in Payne, Ohio, and moved to Fort Wayne in his early childhood. After many years in Fort Wayne he fulfilled his lifelong dream of living on Big Turkey Lake in Hudson, Ind. He then moved to Lake Park, Fla. where he spent his remaining 25 years of life. He was a lifelong member of Disabled American Veterans Association, Moose Lodge 2010 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. where he held a Fellowship Degree, American Legion Post 296 in Riviera Beach, Fla. and Veterans of Foreign War in Lake Park, Fla. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty after 66 years of marriage. Lester and Betty had six children, Corinne (Charles) Kochinka, Alvin E. (Cheryl) Silvers, Allen E. (Mary Ann) Silvers, Keith L. Silvers, Gary M. (Ann) Silvers and Richard K. (Cindy) Silvers. They had 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and their caretaker of the last two years, Larry Arnold. Service is 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
