LOUISE HESSERT SHOWN, 91, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at Kingston at Dupont in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, She was a 1938 graduate of North Side H. S. and I. U. School of Nursing 1943. She was a member of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church; United Methodist Women - Past President of Fort Wayne District and North Indiana Conference; General Conference delegate in 1968 and 1972 for U.M.C.; World Methodist Conference delegate in Dublin, Ireland in 1976; United Methodist Board of Decipleship - Worship eight years; Church Women United - Vice President and President Fort Wayne; Board member of the National Church Women United; Indiana State Board of Operation Classroom with consultation of schools in Sierra Leone and Liberia, Africa; Past member of Fort Wayne Women's Club. She and her husband designed and made Johnny Appleseed dolls and other historic Fort Wayne personalities for the Johnny Appleseed Festival. Surviving are her sons, David K. (Elaine) Shown of Laotto, Ind., Timothy D. (Jane) Shown of Spencer, Ind., Donald G. (Barbara) Shown of Fort Wayne; daughters, Janet L. Ormiston of Fort Wayne, Joyce A. Bir of Fort Wayne, Beth E. (Bret) Pohr of Baytown, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian G. and Edith W. Hessert; her husband, Wilbur D. Shown; brother, Paul B. Hessert; sister, Ruth E. Rest. Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne Street with calling one hour prior. Rev. Greg Enstrom officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home.
