MARTHA BELLE HAY, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Wood-view Health Care Center. She was born on July 4, 1915 on a prairie homestead in Alberta, Canada a daughter of Hansel and Nellie Garrison. The family later returned to Fort Wayne where she went to South Side High School and worked briefly at Lincoln Life before marrying Jesse Bernard Hay, her husband of 51 years. She was an avid gardener and volunteered at the Botanical Garden. She judged the Fort Wayne Schools plant show for many years. She was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church for many years before becoming a member of Shoaff Park Baptist Church. "Martha had a loving heart over her 97 years and enjoyed knowing many friends and neighbors. She was born on the Fourth of July, and those who knew her will always have many fond memories of her on that holiday." She is survived by sons, Bernard Allen (Brenda) Hay of Fort Wayne, and Ronald Loren (Vicki) Hay of Mosinee, Wis.; brother, Arthur Garrison of Bradenton, Fla.; grandchildren, Susan, Jeffrey, Jesse, Matthew and David Hay; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents; husband; sisters, Doris Glass, Ruth Schannen; brothers, Robert and Allen Garrison. Service is 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, with calling from noon until the service, Rev. Kenneth Jackson officiating.
