MICHAEL N. SCHIEBEL, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, surrounded by his family. He served his country as a member of the Air Force during the Korean War. He served as a speech and language pathologist for Fort Wayne Community Schools for 37 years. In addition to his years as a teacher, he was the co-owner of Northeast School of Dance for 41 years. Upon his retirement, he worked for the Indiana Auto Auction. He was a dedicated coach, having led his Little League team to a district championship and his Snider hockey team to a state championship. He enjoyed working in his yard, going to the lake, and prompting others to laugh at his unique sense of humor. His favorite past-time was attending Komet hockey games; a season ticket holder for years, he attended the Komet's first home game in 1952. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beth; children, Matt (Renee), Scott (Rebecca) and Michele (Lynn); six grandchildren, Lauren, Andrew, Gordie, Charlotte, Gage, and Jaxson; sister, Sarahbess; cherished niece, Brooke; and brother, Dan (Tucker). He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Schiebel; and father, Albert Gocke. "The family would like to express their gratitude to the following individuals for their acts of compassion during Mike's final two years; Karen and Denny Maxwell; Larry and Joan Thayer; Jeff and Kay Fabini; and Eric Slen." Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Prefered memorials should be made to the college scholarship fund for Mike's grandchildren at ProFed Credit Union. To sign the online guestbook, please visit www.mccombandsons.com
