MILDRED LAPSLEY, 82, went home to Jesus on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, surrounded by family. Born Sept 26, 1930, in Huntsville, Ala., she came to Fort Wayne at age 9. She was a lifelong seamstress and retired owner / operator of O&M Lapsley Draperies. Married 64 years, she survived her husband for three months. Surviving are daughter, Donita Mudd (Darryl Patterson); grandchildren, Landon of Indianapolis, Quinton of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Simone Mudd; niece, Doshia (Jerome) Graham of Detroit Mich.; in-laws, Ella Thomas, Bessie Lapsley, Luevina (Wiley) Lymon, JC (Maude) Lapsley, Charles Wallace, and Ella Lapsley; aunts, Lillian Steele of Chicago and Helen Alexander; three great-grandchildren; and many relatives. She was preceded in death by husband, Osie; daughters, Paulette and Shelia Lapsley; and sister, Delories Wallace. Homegoing service is noon Saturday, Nov 10, 2012, at Pilgrim Baptist Church, with calling at 10 a.m. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
