NETTIE ELLEN ULLSTROM, 90, of Fort Wayne, died on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, 5:40 a.m., at the home of her son, Jimmie, where she had been residing since April. Born July 5, 1922, in Myland Center, Ind., she was a daughter of Frank C. and Caroline (Federspiel) Chester. Her formative years were spent in Allen County. In 1961, she married Leslie V. Ullstrom. They always made their home in Allen County. Mr. Ullstrom died in 1990. In 2001, Nettie moved to Deland, Fla. for eight months, then returning to Fort Wayne. She was a cook at various restaurants and last employed at Cintas. Surviving relatives include four children, Jerry Lee Babcock of Waynedale, Jimmie J. (Marcia) Babcock of Columbia City, Judith Ann Meredith of New Haven, and Richard Leroy (Janice) Babcock of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and sister, Irene Kitzmiller of Waynedale. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter; five brothers, Albert Chester, Ervin Chester, Donald Chester, Charles Chester, and Morris Chester; and three sisters, Bernice Niedert, Wilma Schaper and Violet Mann. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
