OPAL JEANNE BAIER, 77, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at her residence. Born on Aug. 1, 1934, in Jasper County, she was the daughter of the late Ivan W. and Lavina M. (Stanton) Snow. On Aug. 11, 1962, she married Walter R. Baier, in Rensselaer, Ind.; he passed away in November of 1999. She was a homemaker and a loving caregiver to her brother, Alan and her son, Scotty, both of whom had muscular dystrophy. She loved old movies, her flower gardens and beautiful music. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses affiliated with the South Congregation in Fort Wayne. Surviving are sisters, Elsye Bray of Mooresville, Ind., Glenda (Tom) Edwards of South Bend and Sharon Parrish of Rensselaer; four nieces; and three nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son, Scotty; and five brothers. Memorial service 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3630 Sandpoint Road, Fort Wayne, with Al Hogue officiating. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Arrangements by D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home.
