PHILIP "PHIL" L. GIESEKING, 76, passed away on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at home. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a graduate of Central High School class of 1955 and Purdue University with a degree in Physics and Electrical Engineering. He served in the Navy Reserve for four years. Philip worked as a Senior Engineer with Magnavox for 30 years, retiring in 1992 and was also the owner of Phil's Hobby Shop for 38 years, in Fort Wayne and Defiance Ohio. He was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church and Fort Wayne Flying Circuits; was Vice President of Loft Gliders and Toastmasters. "He could fix anything". Surviving are his sons, Paul (Margie) Gieseking of Wolcottville and Steve (Wendy) Gieseking of Fort Wayne; daughters, Nancy (David) Brittingham of Canton, Ohio and Cynthia (Brent) Golemon of Bastrop, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and sister, Janet Gieseking (Peter) Grottoden of Minneapolis, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence J. and Bertha S Gieseking; and wife of 51 years, Kathryn Gieseking. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Trinity English Lutheran Church, 405 West Wayne St., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at D.O.
