RICHARD EUGENE BUSSARD, 85, of Fort Wayne, passed on Monday, June 3, 2013, at Coving ton Manor. Born in Huntington, he was the only child of Arthur and Anna Bussard. The Navy veteran was a member of the American Legion 423, in Orland. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He retired after 34 years as a teacher from South Side High School in 1990; and was the president of Fort Wayne Teachers Union. He was also on the Steuben Lake Council and Lime Lake Gage Association. He had spent the last 22 years during the winter in the Florida and summers at Lime Lake, in Angola. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mary Ann; sons, Greg and Neil (Nancy) Bussard; stepchildren, Michael (Karen), Donald (Kathy), Steven (Laurie), Susan and Arnold (Denise) Grashoff; grandchildren, Matthew, Tom and Kim; 15 stepgrandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Bussard; and a son, Gary. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorial to Visiting Nurse.
