RICHARD L. "ANDY" OR "DICK" ANDERSON, 89 of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012, after a courageous 17 year battle with cancer. Born Jan. 23, 1923, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Viola and Clarence Anderson. In 1943, he married Mildred "Mimi" Smith. He served his country in World War II in the Navy. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Fort Wayne having served on the Board of Directors for 25 years. He retired in 1983 with 42 years of service with General Electric. He spent his winters vacationing in Florida. He was a 50-year member of the Maumee Lodge 725, and a member of the Scottish Rite and the American Legion Post 499. He enjoyed fishing at Adams Lake. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, "Mimi" Anderson; son, James (Sandie) Anderson of Fort Wayne; daughter, Susan (Rex) Pranger of Adams Lake; one grandson, Dillon Pranger; two granddaughters, April Resor and Angie Tacker; two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Bianca Tacker; one brother, Robert Anderson; one sister, Dorothy Kissinger; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 Wells Street with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 11 at the funeral home with Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens with military rites. "A special thank you to Bill, Rae, Chris, Lori, Erin, Oji, Misty, Michele and Kristie for taking special care of him." In lieu of flowers, preferred memorial are to Parkview Home Health & Hospice, Fort Wayne or Grace Presbyterian Church.
