ROBERT C. THOMPSON, 83, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, 11:10 p.m., at Parkview Hospital - Randallia. Born July 31, 1929, in Allen County, he was a son of the late Elmer J. Thompson and Adella W. (Scheumann) Thompson. He married Joan L. Fuelling on April 25, 1954, in the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne where he was an elder for a number of years and also was a former Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, member of the Endowment Fund, and on the school Board at Concordia Lutheran High School, Fort Wayne. In addition to his volunteering at Peace Lutheran Church, he also devoted time and volunteered at Lutheran Life Village (Lutheran Home). He was also a member of American Legion Post #296 in Fort Wayne. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War era. He was part owner of City Glass Specialty Inc., retiring in 1994 with 52 years of service as manager of the Auto Glass Department. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Joan L. Thompson of Fort Wayne; daughter, Janalee S. (Stanley) Bieberich of Fort Wayne; sons, Jamie L. (Amy - Whetstone) Thompson of Columbus, Ohio and Jerry L. (Angie) Thompson of Wolcottville, Ind.; brother, James M. (Mary) Thompson of New Haven; sister, LaVerne Graves of Fort Wayne; brother, Lloyd (Ti) Thompson of Bean Station, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Mary C. Thompson of Litiz, Pa.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Thompson. Service is 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Peace Lutheran Church, 4900 Fairfield Ave., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Paul J. Spira officating. Calling also from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
