RUTH L. WELLS, 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at her home. Born in Fort Wayne, Ruth was a L.P.N. with Parkview Hospital for 14 years where her skill and warm compassion brought great comfort to patients she cared for. She was a Charter member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and a member of the Maysville Merry Makers Home Economics Club. She was an adventurous person in her retirement, traveling the world from Israel to Korea and many destinations in between. Here in the U.S. she and her late husband, Richard would travel the american roads in their R.V., spending their winter months in Florida. At home in Fort Wayne, she enjoyed reading and having lunch with the "girls" visiting with other friends and of course her family. Surviving are her son, Stanley L. (Diane) Wells of Clermont, Fla.; son, Michael L. (Nancy) Wells of Auburn; son, Keith A. (Paula) Wells of Fort Wayne; daughter, Karen S. (Peter Skipp) Wells of Tampa, Fla.; daughter, Kathy J. Alvarez of Milan, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Richard C. Wells; parents, John Edward Christian and Jennie L. Hieber; and brothers, Wayne S. Hieber and Robert C. Hieber. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with The Rev. Nick Robinson officiating. Calling is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2013, at the funeral home.
