STEPHEN PAPP, 96, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at the Gardens of Paulding, Paulding, Ohio. Born Nov. 9, 1916, in Port Huron, Mich., he was the son of Andrew and Sophia (Peto) Papp. On June 30, 1951, he married Loraine M. Von Behren; she survives in Payne. He was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran. He retired in 1976 from International Harvester of Fort Wayne after 30 years. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 587 and American Legion Post 297. Also surviving are two sons, Charles S. (Marjorie) Papp of Van Wert, and LaRue Papp of Indianapolis; a daughter, Karyl (Gene) Leser of Fishers, Ind.; a sister, Martha Straka of Defiance; three grandchildren, Stephen C. Papp, Nicholas and Nathaniel Leser; and a step-grandson, Chris Sauer. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Julius and John Papp; and three sisters, Ida Overmeyer, Margaret Zavasky and Helen Isaacs. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. A graveside memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, in Wiltsie Cemetery, Payne.
