THOMAS DANIEL FOY, M.D., 79, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Fort Wayne, passed from this life on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at home. Born in Kendall ville, Tom graduated from North Side High School and Indiana University Medical School in 1963. He was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran. Tom was in family practice over 30 years and opened the first walk-in Medical Clinic in Fort Wayne. He served on various professional boards and was the company physician at UniRoyal Goodrich, Dana and various other companies. As a lay medical missionary, he and his wife, Kay, rejuvenated a Medical Clinic in Sierra Leone, West Africa in 1994. An avid golfer and tennis player, Tom participated in and supported all sports, volunteering as football team physician over 25 years at Snider High School. He is survived by his wife, Kay of Venice, Fla.; sons, William of Little Elm, Texas, Daniel (Colleen) of New Palestine, Ind. and Douglas of Fort Wayne; stepson, Christopher Angle; sisters, Geraldine (Daryl) Benson and Helen Ransburg, both of Fort Wayne and Kathryn (Dick) Burris of La Salle, Ill.; brother, James (Karen) Foy of Anthem, Ariz.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William. Memorial service is 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with memorial calling from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, Venice, Fla.
