JAMES HOUGHTON Obituary

JAMES D. HOUGHTON, 65, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, with his family by his side at Betz Nursing Home, Auburn. Born April 11, 1945, in Auburn, he was the son of the late Paul Delbert and Magdalene Gladys (Conner) Houghton. He married Betty Mae Allman on May 5, 1985, in Montpelier, Ohio. He worked as a tool & die maker for General Electric for 40 years. He was a member of Auburn Presbyterian Church, the church choir, Smock Senior Ministries, was a former elder of the church, was a member of GE Apprentice Alumni, GE Retirees Club, and the Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a passion for photography. Since his retirement, he enjoyed working at the "Friends" table at the church. Surviving are his wife, Betty Houghton of Auburn; son, Timothy Houghton of South Bend; daughters, JoLynn (Jim) Conley of Waterloo and Heather Houghton of Auburn; two grandsons, Travis and Tyson Conley; brother, David (Barb) Houghton of Fort Wayne; and sister, Nanci (Raymond) Carnahan of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Dawn Houghton, in 1934. Service is 11 a.m. Friday, with calling one hour prior, at Auburn Presbyterian Church, 111 W. 12th Street, Auburn. Pastor Lyle Ewing and Pastor Bill Haworth officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn. Memorials to DeKalb County Humane Society, 5221 US Hwy 6, Butler, IN 46721 or Auburn Presbyterian Church Choir, 111 W. 12th St. Auburn, IN 46706. Arrangements by Carnahan-Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home, Spencerville.
