JACK AVERY, 83, died at home, Friday, Feb. 24, 2012. He married his wife Patricia May Adams on June 19, 1949. He was a World War II veteran stationed in Japan and went about his life quietly teaching his sons how to build and fix whatever was needed around the home. He worked in the electrical trade as a member of the IBEW 305 for 42 years. His desire to help others led to over 60 volunteer mission projects with the NOMADS and SOWERS. He was also a volunteer firefighter for 15 years with Wayne Township. Surviving are wife, Patricia of Fort Wayne; daughter, Deb (Tim) Nagel of Fort Wayne; sons, Bob of Archbold, Ohio and Dan (June) of Fort Wayne; three grandsons, Brian Avery of Madison, Wis., Geoffrey and Matthew Avery of Fort Wayne; brother, Eugene (Helene); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father, William and mother, Grace Avery; brother, Bill; sister, Rose; granddaughter, Danyel Avery; and infant Nagel. Anyone who would like to reminisce with the family is invited to the service, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Rd. with visitation one hour prior. Dr. Derek Weber officiating. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 at D.O. McComb & Sons, Covington Knolls Chapel, 8325 Covington Rd.
